What the research shows, at a glance

Kerassentials itself has never been tested in a published study, so these ratings are for its main ingredients, from the studies in our full review:

Tea tree oil at full strengthSome: about as good as clotrimazole cream in a 1994 trial; diluted here
Undecylenic acid on nailsNot approved: drug labels say it is not effective on the nails
Clove, lavender, lemongrass, manukaLaboratory only: no trials through the nail
Menthol and camphorOne small case series of 18 people, with no comparison group
Kerassentials itselfNever tested in a published study

For comparison, Cochrane reviews of dozens of trials found high-quality evidence that prescription tablets such as terbinafine, and prescription nail solutions such as efinaconazole, cure toenail fungus more often than a placebo. Even those take most of a year.

Is it really nail fungus?

Thick, yellow, brittle or crumbly toenails are often caused by fungus, but not always. Psoriasis, repeated pressure from shoes, an old injury and other skin conditions can look exactly the same, and no antifungal, natural or prescription, will help those. A doctor or podiatrist can send a nail clipping to a laboratory to check before you commit to months of treatment.

If you have diabetes, poor circulation or numb feet, see a doctor or podiatrist about any nail or foot problem instead of treating it yourself. Small infections in the feet can become serious.

Why toenail fungus is so hard to clear

Toenail fungus lives in and under the nail plate, a hard, layered shield that stops most of anything painted on top from reaching it. That is why prescription nail solutions are specially made to soak through the nail, why filing the surface helps, and why even the best topical treatments clear the infection completely in only a minority of people.

The infected part of the nail also has to grow out before the nail looks normal again. Toenails grow slowly, so a treatment that stops the fungus early still leaves the old, discoloured nail in place for many months. The fungus often lives on the skin as well, as athlete’s foot, which is one reason it so often comes back.

  • Judge any treatment by the clear nail growing out from the base, not by the old nail.
  • Treat athlete’s foot between the toes at the same time.
  • Keep going for as long as the treatment directs, even after the nail starts to look better.

What works best for nail fungus

  • Prescription tablets: terbinafine and azole antifungals have the best cure rates, from a 2017 Cochrane review of 48 studies with over 10,000 people. They need a doctor, because they can interact with other medicines.
  • Prescription nail solutions: efinaconazole has high-quality evidence and tavaborole and ciclopirox lower-quality evidence, from a 2020 Cochrane review, though complete cure rates are modest even after about a year.
  • Filing and trimming: thinning a thick nail helps any treatment reach the fungus underneath.
  • Stopping it coming back: keep feet dry, change socks daily, wear sandals in shared showers and changing rooms, do not share nail clippers, and treat athlete’s foot between the toes, which can spread to the nails.

Which package makes sense?

Each 15 ml bottle is sold as a month’s supply. The packages work out to about $2.80, $2.30 and $1.63 a day, shipping included, and it is a one-time payment, not a subscription. US orders take 5 to 7 working days; shipping to Canada, the UK and Ireland, Australia and New Zealand costs $15.95 and takes 10 to 15 working days.

The awkward part is timing. A damaged toenail takes 12 to 18 months to be replaced by new growth, but the refund window closes 60 days after delivery, so you cannot judge a nail treatment before the window shuts. The “savings” on the order page are measured against crossed-out totals of $358, $537 and $1,074 that nobody actually pays.

  • Two bottles ($167.99 with shipping) keep the amount you risk lowest if you just want to see whether you like using the oil.
  • Six bottles ($294) give the lowest price per bottle, plus three e-books and a “surprise gift”, if you have decided to use it for many months anyway.

Before buying any nail fungus treatment, ask a doctor or podiatrist to confirm it is fungus. If it is and the nail is badly affected, prescription treatment is the better first step.

How to use it

File the nailGently file the nail surface with an emery board so the oil can soak in.
Brush it onCoat the whole nail with the brush applicator.
Work in the cuticleUse a cotton swab around the cuticle and the edges of the nail.
Four times a dayTwice in the morning and twice in the afternoon, as the label says.
  • Keep the area clean and dry: wash and dry your feet well, especially between the toes, before applying it.
  • Use a separate file: keep the emery board for the affected nails only, so you do not spread the fungus.
  • Watch the new growth: judge progress by the clear nail growing out at the base, not by how the old nail looks.
  • Stop if your skin reacts: tea tree, clove, lavender and lemongrass oils and undecylenic acid can cause redness or itching.
  • Store it safely: it is for external use only, and camphor and clove oil are poisonous if swallowed, so keep it away from children.

  1. Write down the delivery date. The seller emails a tracking link within 60 hours of the order; the carrier’s tracking page shows the delivery date.
  2. Keep the paperwork and the bottles. Save the confirmation email from ClickBank with your order number, the packing slip, and every bottle, even empty ones.
  3. To claim, email the seller’s support address with “Refund Request” in the subject line, then post every bottle with the packing slip and a note giving your name, email and order number to the returns address in Aurora, Colorado, shown on the seller’s refund page. You pay the postage.
  4. Allow time. The seller says refunds take 5 to 10 days to show on your statement. If you get no reply, ClickBank’s order support at clkbank.com can help.

👍 It may suit you if…

  • A doctor or podiatrist has confirmed mild nail fungus and you want to try a topical oil.
  • You are ready to apply it four times a day for many months.
  • You accept that the refund window ends long before you can judge the result.

⚠️ Skip it, or ask first, if…

  • You have diabetes, poor circulation or numb feet: see a doctor or podiatrist first.
  • The nail is thick, painful or spreading: prescription treatment works better.
  • You are allergic to tea tree, clove, lavender or other essential oils.
  • You want fast results: no nail treatment can grow a new toenail in weeks.

Where it is sold

Only online, at kerassentials.com, with ClickBank processing the order. Look-alike sites may call themselves the “official website”; this page is not one of them, and neither is any listing on Amazon or eBay, which the seller does not allow.

At checkout

You pay on a ClickBank checkout page. Further offers for other products may appear after you pay; you can decline them. The charge shows on your statement as CLKBANK*Kerassentials.

Price

There is no single bottle. Two bottles cost $158 plus $9.99 shipping; three cost $207 and six cost $294, with free US shipping. Figures like “Save $780” compare the six-bottle price with a crossed-out $1,074.

Refund

60 days from delivery. Email support with “Refund Request” in the subject line and send every bottle back to Aurora, Colorado, at your own cost. That is far shorter than a toenail takes to grow out.

Questions people ask about Kerassentials

Is this the official Kerassentials website?

No. This is an independent guide by Health and Wellness Studies. Kerassentials is sold at kerassentials.com, and orders go through ClickBank.

Does Kerassentials work for toenail fungus?

It has never been tested. Tea tree oil and undecylenic acid have antifungal activity, but at lower strengths than in the studies, and no ingredient is approved for nail fungus. Prescription tablets and nail solutions have the best evidence.

How long does Kerassentials take to work?

The sales page promises new nails within weeks and the FAQ says 9 to 12 weeks, but a toenail takes 12 to 18 months to grow out, even with prescription treatment.

What is in Kerassentials?

Seventeen ingredients, led by undecylenic acid (5%), mineral oil, almond oil, flaxseed oil and tea tree oil, with aloe, canola, vitamin E, walnut, menthol, camphor, clove, jojoba, chia, lemongrass, lavender and manuka oils.

How do you use Kerassentials?

Four times a day: file the nail surface, brush the oil onto the whole nail, and work it into the cuticle with a cotton swab. It is for external use only.

Is Kerassentials safe?

It is for external use only. Its essential oils and undecylenic acid can irritate the skin or cause allergic reactions, and camphor and clove oil are poisonous if swallowed, so keep it away from children.

Can Kerassentials replace prescription treatment?

No. Prescription tablets such as terbinafine and nail solutions such as efinaconazole have far better evidence. A doctor can also confirm whether the nail problem is really fungus.

Does Kerassentials work on fingernails?

The label says it is for skin and nails, but there is no evidence for either. Fingernails grow faster than toenails, taking roughly six months to be replaced.

How much does Kerassentials cost?

Two bottles cost $158 plus $9.99 shipping, three cost $207 and six cost $294, with free US shipping. That is about $2.80, $2.30 or $1.63 a day.

Can I buy just one bottle?

No. The smallest order is two bottles for $158 plus $9.99 shipping.

Is Kerassentials a subscription?

No, it is a one-time payment. Further offers may appear after checkout; you can decline them.

Is Kerassentials sold on Amazon or Walmart?

The seller says it is sold only on its own website, and its terms do not allow resale on Amazon, eBay or other retail sites, so a bottle from there is not covered by the refund.

How long does shipping take?

US orders take 5 to 7 working days. Canada, the UK and Ireland, Australia and New Zealand cost $15.95 and take 10 to 15 working days, according to the seller’s shipping page.

What will the charge look like on my statement?

ClickBank processes the payment, and the seller says the charge shows as CLKBANK*Kerassentials.

How does the Kerassentials refund work?

You have 60 days from delivery. Email support with “Refund Request” in the subject line, then send every bottle back, empty or not, with the packing slip to the warehouse in Aurora, Colorado, at your own cost.
